6 a.m. Bahrain: the No. 8 Toyota in the lead at mid-race

The Toyota ont rapidement pris les commandes de la finale du WEC at the 6 Hours of Bahrain. As the halfway point was about to be reached, one of the two TS050 Hybrids seemed out of contention for victory. The #1 LMP7 Kamui Kobayashi was hit at turn no. 2 by the no. 911 92 RSR of Michael Christensen who was racing at the front of the GTE Pro and who did not see the Japanese prototype as he closed in on him. The Japanese driver returned to the garage while the event was under “full course yellow”.

Despite everything, Toyota remains in the lead with the No. 8 currently led by Kazuki Nakajima.

Jackie Chan DC Racing seems to be taking an option for the LMP2 title with the No. 38 currently driven by Thomas Laurent. The Vaillante Rebellion n°31 at the head of the category before arriving on the Sakhir circuit follows in second place with Nicolas Cheers, but it is more than a minute behind the LMP2 of the Anglo-Chinese structure. The second Vaillante of Nelson Piquet Jr completes the provisional LMP2 podium ahead of theAlpine André's A470 negrao who was in difficulty in the first part of the race.

AF Corse is also on the right track since the Ferrari #51 at the head of the GTE Pro leads the category with Alessandro Pier Guidi at the wheel ahead of the #67 Ford GT of Andy Priaulx, while the second Ferrari entrusted to Davide Rigon is in third position ahead of the #91 Porsche of Richard Lietz. The Dalla Lana-Lamy-Lauda trio is getting closer to the GTE Am title,Aston Martin Vantage #98 leading the category while the Dempsey Proton Racing Porsche lost time in the pits for headlight repairs.
