6H of Bahrain – Qualifying: Brendon Hartley places Toyota in pole position

In the expected duel between the two Toyotas, Brendon Hartley set the best time at the wheel of the number 8. The New Zealander beat Kamui Kobayashi (Toyota) and André Negrão (Alpine).

Intractable in Free Practice, the Toyota logically competed for pole position at the 6 Hours of Bahrain. In this fratricidal struggle in Sakhir, it is Brendon Hartley who took pole position in 1:47.049, ahead of Kamui Kobayashi at 0.398. Third place went to Andre Negro at the wheel of theAlpine A480 – Gibson, at 0.954.

The logic of the previous sessions was also respected in LM P2, with the best time of the number 07 JOTA Oreca 28 – Gibson achieved by Tom Blomqvist in 1:49.932. More than successful qualifying for JOTA, Antonio Felix da Costa placing the number 38 in third position, 0.266 behind his teammate. His compatriot Filipe Albuquerque slotted United Autosports into second with a 1:49.994. Loïc duval placed the first Pro-Am, that of Realteam Racing, in fourth place, setting a time of 1:50.559.

 

Porsche takes an option in GTE Pro

In LMGTE Pro, in a category where the fight for the title rages between the Porsche 911 RSR – 19 number 92 (Estre, Jani) and the Ferrari 488 GTE EVO number 51 from AF Corse (Pier Guidi, Calado), Kévin Estre put his team on the right track by setting the best time in 1:56.144. He beat his teammate Gianmaria Bruni at the wheel of the number 91 Porsche (with Richard Lietz) by a breath (+ 0.034). Alessandro Pier Guidi had to settle for fourth and last place in the category with a 1:57.573, beaten by Miguel Molina on the second AF Corse.

In the GTE Am, Rino Mastronardi continues his momentum. The recent European champion with Iron Lynx placed the number 488 Ferrari 60 GTE EVO in first position with a 1:58.687, ahead of Paul Dalla Lana (Aston Martin Racing number 98) at 0.644 and Egido Perfetti (Team Project 1 number 56) at 0.717.

Almost 1 second difference between 'l'Alpine' and the Toyotas, fortunately the BOP has been adapted, always and again the same smoke from the ACO.
