Sébastien Bourdais and Anthony Davidson won the 6 Hours of Imola on the Peugeot 908 n°7, which is ahead of the n°8 of Franck Montagny and Stéphane Sarrazin. Audi was behind by placing its first R18 in third position almost two laps behind the Lionesses (Audi n°1 of Marcel Fassler and Timo Bernhard).
The winners did not expect such a good result, as Sébastien Bourdais confirms. “It was a fantastic race for Peugeot”, rejoices the Frenchman. “We didn't expect to finish with a double and we imagined a closer battle with Audi who had brought a new aerodynamic package to Imola. At the finish, our consistency and lower consumption paid off. After our result in Spa, things look good for the ILMC Championship. »
His teammate Anthony Davidson, who shared the wheel of the No. 7 with the Frenchman, is also delighted with the result. “It was a splendid race”, says the Briton. “It was very hard. I can't believe we completed six hours without a single safety car. We didn't think we would win with such a lead. It was nice to share the car for the first time with Sébastien. I will just have to check that my seat fits well next time because the circuit is very demanding and I had pain at times. »
