Alex Hitzinger to leave Porsche

Alex Hitzinger will step down as technical director of the LMP1 project Porsche on March 31 after following the development of the 919 Hybrid since its debut. His replacement has not yet been named while the 2016 season of WEC will begin the weekend of April 17 with the 6 Hours of Silverstone (Great Britain).

“On behalf of Porsche, I would like to thank Alexander Hitzinger for his great contribution to the success of the 919 Hybrid. He was one of the first to join us at the end of 2011”, commented Fritz Enzinger, vice-president of the LMP1 project. “We have a total of 260 employees and we have an amazing group of engineers on our team. The Porsche 919 Hybrid for the 2016 season is ready. »

According to the press release, Alex Hitzinger has decided to leave the German brand to evolve outside of motorsport.
