Andreas Seidl: “It’s impossible to simulate Le Mans”

After a highly anticipated return to the World ChampionshipEndurance in 2014, punctuated by success in Brazil, Porsche logically aims to shine at 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 13-14), an event where the German brand holds the record for victories (16).

The 2015 double round of the clock will also be special for the men of Team Principal Andreas Siedl, since three 919 Hybrids will be at the start (like at Spa last May), entrusted to the crews Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley, Mark Webber on the n°17 with the red livery, Romain Dumas, Neel Jani, Marc Lieb on the black n°18 and Earl Bamber, Nico Hulkenberg, Nick Tandy on the white n°19.

“Managing three cars once again represents a greater challenge for all of us,
Seidl explains. The Spa race (in Belgium) gave us a taste of what it takes to do this, but only over a six-hour duration. We used our 30 hours of testing to review many possibilities. However, it is impossible to simulate Le Mans, and without a very professional team, you cannot stay in the race successfully. »

23 people are seconded per LM P1 prototype to the 24 Hours of Le Mans on the Porsche side.
