Anthony Davidson packages for Mexico

Les mauvaises nouvelles s’enchaînent pour le Toyota Gazoo Racing. Après Stéphane Sarrazin's exit from the track forcing the No. 050 TS6 Hybrid to remain in the garage during the first two test sessions of the 6 Hours of Mexico, the Japanese manufacturer announced the withdrawal of Anthony Davidson for the event contested this Saturday, September 3 at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

The Franco-Asian team explained that the Briton suffered from bruises on his ribs after a test session held last August in Magny-Cours (Nièvre). After completing a few laps during collective testing this morning, the decision not to get back behind the wheel this weekend was made so that he could fully recover before the 6 hours of the Circuit of the Americas which will be contested on Saturday September 17 at Austin, Texas.

“It’s disappointing to make this long journey here and not be able to race, but it’s the right decision, commented Anthony Davidson. I wasn't comfortable this morning and there's no point in taking risks, especially with Austin coming. It's not a problem to race here with two drivers, but it would be impossible in Austin due to the high temperatures. So I'll be a frustrated spectator for the rest of the week, but I know Séb and Kazuki will do a good job. »

Sébastien Buemi et Kazuki Nakajima évolueront donc seuls sur la Toyota n°5 aux 6 Heures de Mexico. L’absence d’Anthony Davidson ne compte pas dans la lutte pour le titre puisque l’équipage ne compte que 11 points à près d’une centaine unités des leaders Lieb-Jani-Dumas sur la Porsche 919 Hybrid n°1.
