Antonio Giovinazzi did not enjoy the joys of pole position at Spa-Francorchamps for long. Fastest in the qualifying session behind the wheel of the Ferrari 499P nº51, the Italian was finally downgraded to 3rd place for having exceeded the track limits at turn 7.

“Qualifying was a roller coaster, like the Spa circuit,” confided the Italian after the session. I think I did a really good lap on my last attempt, but unfortunately I was on the gravel and lost time. I didn't win anything and I lost my pole position. Ultimately, in any case, we are P2 and P3. This is very good for Ferrari. Let's go out there and have a good race tomorrow. If we had had a clean session it would have been better, but we put the car on pole. The clock was there, but these are the rules, we have to accept them. Tomorrow the race will be long. In Spa, you never know what the weather will be like. Let's hope for a clean race. I am sure we can achieve a good result. »

The two transalpine prototypes will indeed set off behind the Toyota nº7 this Saturday thanks to the second time of Miguel Molina. Will they be able to take advantage of their numerical superiority against the GR010 Hybrid?
