After a frustrating performance in the opening round of the WEC in Qatar, Alpine truly launched its season at Imola at the end of April. Thanks to an excellent strategy, the French clan managed to secure a podium finish that was as splendid as it was unexpected, behind the untouchable Ferrari No. 51 and the impressive BMW No. 20. On theAlpine A424 n°36, Frédéric Makowiecki, Jules Gounon and Mick Schumacher managed to make an offbeat strategy work and climb onto the third step of the podium at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari.
Inevitably, this first podium obtained in 2025 – the second of the A424 adventure for Alpine – gives wings to the French team, which goes to Belgium with the ambition of maintaining this momentum during the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. The Walloon track was rather successful for the A sign last year: at Spa, Alpine had secured a place in Hyperpole for the first time, thanks to Charles Milesi. In the race, the French clan had managed to place a car in the Top 10 during a race disrupted by a long red flag. A traditional preparation round before the 24H of Le Mans (June 14-15), the Belgian meeting will be an opportunity for Philippe Sinault and his men to warm up before the big event of the season.
Le Mans at the heart of the 6 Hours of Spa for Alpine
“The Spa-Francorchamps meeting is always a highlight of the season, underlines the Team Principal ofAlpine Endurance Team, who hopes for a studious weekend for his team in the Belgian Ardennes. It's an iconic circuit, steeped in history, and a must-see on the calendar. After our podium finish at Imola, the whole team is obviously encouraged by this result, but we're keeping our feet on the ground: we know there's still a lot of work to do to achieve our goals." The objective is of course the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where Alpine is aiming for an excellent result a year after the terrible retirement of the two French Hypercars. On the Walloon track, which has some similar characteristics to the Le Mans circuit, the A fléché intends to accumulate laps to best prepare before heading to Sarthe.
“Spa represents a valuable opportunity to continue our growth and perfect our execution, adds the BerruyerIts fast and demanding track will also allow us to assess our progress in conditions similar to those we will encounter next month at Le Mans. It is also a very demanding track for the tires, making it an excellent indicator of our tire management. Every lap counts to refine our package and improve our level of preparation, both technically and operationally. We therefore approach this event with humility, but also with real motivation. The team has worked hard, and this event should allow us to complete our preparation at all levels before the great challenge in Sarthe."
Both crews will also put their experience to the service of the French team.Alpine No. 35, Charles Milesi, Ferdinand Habsburg and Paul-Loup Chatin will be keen to unlock their points counter while the trio of No. 36 – formed by Frédéric Makowiecki, Jules Gounon and Mick Schumacher – will want to continue the momentum started following their podium at Imola.
