Audi drops its appeal

Audi has announced that it is abandoning its appeal following the disqualification of the No. 18 R7 of Tréluyer-Fässler-Lotterer at the 6 Hours of Silverstone while the LMP1 at the Rings crossed the finish line in the lead. The commissioners noted excessive wear on the control pad located under the flat bottom of the car, which is supposed to monitor the aero settings in compliance with the regulations.

“We accept the exclusion and we are moving on in the interest of the sport. “It’s our job to avoid this kind of thing and we take responsibility.” commented Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, Head of Audi Motorsport.

This skate became abnormally worn due to the Full Course Yellow following the crash of Brendon Hartley on Porsche 919 Hybrid n°1, an interruption which was also fatal to the Audi n°8 of Duval-Di Grassi-Jarvis. The drop in pace caused a drop in tire pressure, increasing the ride height.

The result of the 6 Hours of Silverstone is now official with the victory of the No. 2 Porsche of Jani-Dumas-Lieb.
