Audi doesn't want to start from scratch

During the 12 Hours of Sebring, at the start of the season, the new Audi R15, for its first race, amazed and won. On the side of Peugeot , it had mainly raised questions about the interpretation of the aerodynamic chapter of the regulations provided by the ACO. Since then, nothing has changed. The French manufacturer's multiple protests were all rejected and the issue was not clarified by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest for the next season.

However, Dr Wolgang Ullrich would like things to remain as they are. The boss of Audi Motorsport does not want to develop an R15 different from the 2009 model. I can't afford to ask my group to build a new car for 2010, asserts Dr Ullrich in the columns of the Team. Everyone wants to avoid having to build a car for 2009, another for 2010 and yet another for 2011. »

The boss of the stable of the firm with the rings acknowledges that discussions are continuing with the organizer of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. And, if the aerodynamics of the front of the Audi R15 are debated, DR Ullrich hopes to win his case with the ACO. “ I hope that a car compliant in 2009 will remain compliant in 2010. » Beyond the settlement points, Audi and Peugeot will meet on the track on September 27, for the Petit Le Mans ALMS race, on the Road Atlanta circuit.
