Barrichello enthusiastic to discover the WEC with Racing Spirit of Léman

At 23, Eduardo Barrichello will discover the World ChampionshipEndurance. Rubens' eldest son will in fact compete in the 2025 season of WEC in the GT3 category at the wheel of theAston Martin Vantage No. 10 of the French team Racing Spirit of Léman. He will be associated with the Frenchman Valentin Hasse-Clot as well as the American Derek Deboer.

I can't thank Racing Spirit of Léman and my amazing teammates enough for their support. » With this registration in WEC, the native of São Paulo (Brazil) will have the opportunity to discover the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 14-15). Driving in Sarthe in June, the young man follows in the footsteps of his illustrious father.

Rubens Barrichello to take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans

Best known for his career in Formula 1, Rubens Barrichello (323 Grands Prix, vice-world champion 2002 and 2004) has only taken part in the Le Mans double-lap race once. It was in 2017, at the wheel of a Racing Team Nederland Dallara P217 alongside Jan Lammers and Frits van Eerd. The trio finished in 11th position in the LM P2 category. The former teammate of Michael Schumacher in Ferrari has also competed in the 24 Hours of Daytona four times (2013, 2015, 2016, 2019), with a best result of second place overall in 2016. This was at the wheel of a Wayne Taylor Racing Chevrolet Corvette DP alongside Max Angelelli and brothers Ricky and Jordan Taylor.

Until now, Eduardo Barrichello had devoted himself mainly to the car including a place as vice-champion of the US F2000 in 2020. After two seasons in FRECA (29th and 11th), the Paulista turned in 2023 to the Brazilian Stock Car, a championship in which his father was crowned in 2014. Ten years later, "Dudu" Barrichello finished third in the 2024 edition behind Gabriel Casagrande and Julio Campos, but ahead of Ricardo Zonta and Felipe Massa, with two victories, four podiums and a pole position to his name.

Even far from Formula 1, Eduardo Barrichello finds other ways to follow the path traced by his father before him. To the point of seeing them one day reunited in the same crew? Although he is 52 years old, Rubens Barrichello tested an Oreca 07 from the COOL Racing team at the end of 2024. Just for fun or for another project? The future will tell.
