For several months, rumors have been circulating about a major new evolution of the current concept of the Peugeot 9X8 LMH in the paddock. Internally, the French manufacturer's deliberations on the future of this project seem to be well advanced.
At the 6 Hours of Imola, Emmanuel Esnault hinted that things were already well underway. We are no longer in the reflection phase, but we will communicate in due course.he told us on Friday. It's still too early to announce anything. For now, there are many milestones to reach before communicating anything. »
Without saying more, the Peugeot Team Principal clearly suggests that a major announcement is being prepared behind the scenes.
Doriane Pin, a key role in development
We also interviewed Emmanuel Esnault about the arrival of Dorian Pin, the French manufacturer's newest recruit. Crowned in F1 Academy in 2025, the Frenchwoman joins Peugeot as a development driver with a program already well defined.
“Pocket Rocket” will notably participate in the tests, with the end-of-season Rookie Test in mind, while also being heavily involved in simulator work.
« She has a real mission: to support Alex Quinn, who is also a development driver, as well as the regular drivers, in continuing the development of the car. explains Emmanuel Esnault. This represents a lot of work in the simulator, sessions with the engineering team and the Rookie Test. »
A prospect towards 2027?
Could this support role be interpreted as a first step towards a full-time seat in the medium term? The hypothesis is legitimate, especially since Doriane Pin clearly states her ambition to join the Hypercar category by 2027.
« There are many steps to take before a manufacturer decides to change its existing drivers. Esnault, however, adds a nuance. Many boxes need to be checked. »
The coming months will tell us more about the future outlines of the Peugeot 9X8 program.
