Bourdais: “An intense and difficult race”

Sharing the wheel of the #908 9 with Pedro Lamy and simon pagenaud, Sebastian Bourdais confirms feeling ready to compete in the 79th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, after having completed the necessary preparations. If the Portuguese should be in charge of qualifying, the man from Le Mans will start the race.

“We're not really focusing on our place in qualifying, he told us. we can very well start from sixth place, that's not what matters most. I won't try to take too many risks at the start, but if the Audis are in front of me and I'm faster, I'll pass them. »

The four-time Champion Champcar expects an even more intense rivalry with the German manufacturer. “This 79th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is likely to be even tighter than previous races,” he adds. “The gaps will be very small. I'm expecting an intense and difficult race. »

Sébastien Bourdais is not worried about the reliability of the new 908, even if he knows that anything can happen. “We did a lot of testing to prepare for the 24 Hours”, confirms the pilot Peugeot Sport. “The work upstream was well done, but we can never rule out anything. The car's youth forced us to be even more rigorous in terms of reliability. »
