Between carnival and beer, some have made their choice. The penultimate round of Formula E in Berlin falls on the same weekend as the 6H of São Paulo WEC. Sunday, July 13, at 16 p.m., at the start of the 6 hours from São Paulo, the halfway point of the second E-Prix will already be reached in Berlin. A clash between two disciplines which has forced some drivers to decide.
Among the pilots in double program, Sébastien Buemi will leave his seat Toyota to take the wheel of his Envision. This will be the first time since the Shanghai round on October 28, 2012, that Sébastien Buemi will not be at the start of a WEC round, ending a run of 89 consecutive races. Robin Frijns, his FE teammate, will be replaced in the #20 BMW by German Marco Wittmann.
Like the Porsche and Aston Martin, both Peugeot will be racing with a reduced crew of two drivers. Stoffel Vanndoorne will be at the start of the Berlin E-Prix with Maserati. Jean-Éric Vergne will also prefer his DS Penske to his 9X8 n°93, after finishing sixteenth in the 24H of Le Mans.
Norman Nato and Nyck de Vries maintain their commitment to São Paulo
Conversely, Frenchman Norman Nato will be at the wheel of the No. 12 Cadillac. Brazilian Sérgio Sette Câmara will replace him at Nissan alongside Oliver Rowland, currently leading the drivers' championship. Nyck de Vries He will also miss both Berlin races, as he did last year. The Dutchman was replaced by Jordan King in 2024, but still has no official replacement.
The GT3 entry list for São Paulo highlights the return of Michelle Gatting with Iron Dames. Injured during a driver change during the 24 Hours of Le Mans test day, she was replaced by Sarah Bovy. The Iron Dames were then unable to take part in the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen in IMSA the following week. Note the replacement of Derek DeBoer by Anthony McIntosh in the No. 10 Aston Martin of the Racing Spirit of Léman team. Yuichi Nakayama reiterates his replacement of Ben Barnicoat, entered at Mosport in IMSA, as at the 6 Hours of Spa.
