Buemi-Nakajima-Alonso emerge victorious in the duel between the Toyotas

For the third time in the 2018-19 World Endurance Championship Super Season (WEC) in three rounds, Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima et Fernando Alonso (Toyota) dominated the sister car composed of Mike conway, José Maria Lopez and Kamui Kobayashi.

The No. 8 trio won the 6 Hours of Silverstone (Great Britain) this Sunday. The duel still lasted until the last hour. The n°7 had a 20 second lead until Kamui Kobayashi suffered problems with the balance of his prototype. Sébastien Buemi took the opportunity to close the deficit and easily overtake it.

Involved in a collision at the first turn, the Rebellion R13 of Mathias Beche, Gustavo Menezes and Thomas Laurent managed to make its way to the third step of the podium. The other star of the meeting, Jenson Button, quickly disappeared after his BR Engineering 1 prototype from SMP Racing was forced to abandon due to turbo failure.

As for the prototypes aligned by the DragonSpeed and the ByKolles, one of them was the victim of a mechanical problem early in the race and the other suffered an accident under full course yellow (FCY) regime.

LM P1 classification:

En LM P2, Jackie Chan DC Racing left its mark on the British meeting. Pole men Jaafar-Tan-Jeffri dominated the proceedings when a puncture at the right rear slowed down the Oreca 07. Fortunately for the Chinese team, the crew Ho-Pin Tung-Gabriel Aubry-Stéphane Richelmi quickly took up the torch to bring back the winner's trophy, far ahead of the competition.

Proof of its uncertainty, the category GTE Pro saw its third different winner in as many events. This time it's the Ferrari 488 GTE Evo d’Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado who won, not without holding on under pressure from Porsche drivers Michael Christensen and Kévin Estre, then Richard Lietz and Gianmaria Bruni (2nd at 14'').

Certainly the fastest at Silverstone, the Ford GTs lost time during a hectic start, and especially during a pit stop made just before a race neutralization. Andy Priaulx and Harry Tincknell, however, finished third. THE Aston Martin Next-gen Vantage held up the comparison in the first half of the effort, before slowing down due to various glitches.

Finally, the class GTE Am saw the success of the young pilot Porsche Junior Julien Andlauer, associated with Christian Ried and Matt Campbell on a Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche 911 RSR. Enough to consolidate their lead in the general classification.
