Button took the wheel of the SMP Racing BR1

Jenson Button has discovered the mount with which he will compete for the first time in the 24 Hours of Le Mans June 16 and 17. The 2009 champion of F1 took the wheel of the SMP Racing BR1 with which he will face the double round of the clock at Sarthe by carrying out a test session on the Magny-Cours circuit (Nièvre).

“My smile goes from ear to ear, commented the resident of Team Kunimitsu in Super GT500.  I did my first test session with the SMP Racing BE1 and I absolutely loved it. It was all the more pleasant as it was done at Magny-Cours which is one of my favorite circuits and where I have excellent memories. I really had the feeling of driving an old-fashioned F1 car, from the time I was driving in 2005-2006. »

“We had a solid five-hour session and I already feel comfortable behind the wheel of this monster, added the former Bar-Honda driver. There are still areas for improvement, but it's a good starting point thanks to the help of Vitaly Petrov and Mikhail Aleshin. »

Jenson Button will be entered in the Sarthe with the two Russians and will notably reunite with his former teammate Fernando Alonso committed for the entire Super Season of WEC with Toyota Gazoo Racing.
