Cadillac Celebrates Cultural Heritage in Austin

The Lone Star Le Mans will be held on Pink Cadillac Day, which is an unofficial holiday in the United States celebrated annually on September 1 in honor of the iconic marque that became a cultural landmark in the 1950s.

A legendary American automaker, Cadillac has its own commemorative day: Pink Cadillac Day. It embraces the nostalgia for classic American car culture and the brand's unique place in pop culture and luxury. Cadillac has been featured in over 400 movie scenes and has been cited in over 300 songs by artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin, The Beach Boys and Elvis Presley.

The latter had purchased a 60 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 1955, blue with a black roof. He had it repainted by a neighbor, who gave it a pink color and named it "Elvis Rose". The artist gave it as a gift to his mother, Gladys.

To celebrate the Detroit, Michigan-based firm's unique history and connection to the American people, a pink Cadillac V-Series.R model will be on display during the Lone Star race weekend. Le Mans, sixth round of the World ChampionshipEndurance FIA organized at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA).

While the #2 V-Series.R entered in the race by Chip Ganassi Racing and co-driven by Alex Lynn and Earl Bamber will keep its blue livery on track, Cadillac and Microsoft have collaborated to make a pink version of the prototype playable in the Forza Motorsport video game. It will be available for download and in-game starting August 30.

For the only race of the WEC Across the Atlantic this season, Cadillac is hoping to get a result that lives up to expectations after a series of poor performances. The General Motors brand will be counting on a winner of the event in 2017, Earl Bamber. He won at the time alongside Brendon Hartley and Timo Bernhard on a Porsche 919 Hybrid.

The New Zealander highlights the high heat expected throughout this weekend at the Circuit of the Americas. The track is very difficult and it will be hot, so it will be a real endurance race for the cars and drivers, declares the pilot. After the tests, we We will be well prepared and we will be able to rely on the knowledge of our American colleagues. I think this will be one of the highlights of the program. Many people talk about the climb leading to the first corner, but I actually like the last sector with a long, fast right-hander and the other fast corner to finish the lap. Overall, I think it will be exhausting, a challenge for the teams in terms of strategy and I think the race will be very good, so I'm looking forward to it. »
