As we wrote on April 21 on the sidelines of the 6 Hours of Imola, second round of the 2024 season of the World ChampionshipEndurance of the FIA, Cadillac and Hertz Team JOTA will combine their forces for the next season of WEC. The British team will thus leave its status as a customer team of Porsche to become the American manufacturer's factory effort. The latter will have to increase its contingent to two cars for next season while since its arrival in the Hypercar category in 2023 the General Motors brand had made the minimalist choice of a single prototype under the aegis of Chip Ganassi Racing.
« Cadillac is proud to compete against the best in the world in the FIA World Endurance Championship, and that includes Team Hertz JOTA, says John Roth, vice president of Global Cadillac. We are excited to welcome the Hertz JOTA team next year, who will bring together decades of racing and technical expertise, to ensure continued success on the track and create new advocates for our brand around the world. »
« JOTA has always sought to become a factory team, and today, partnering with Cadillac is the realization of that goal, adds Sam Hignett, director and founder of the English team. Having competed against the Cadillac V-Series.R for the past two seasons, we have seen first-hand how competitive it is and are truly honored to be entrusted with putting its cars into service starting in 2025. We have the privileged to have enjoyed record success in the FIA World Endurance Championship, notably at Le Mans, and we look forward to continuing this momentum with Cadillac and Hertz. »
The drivers of the No. 12 and 38 Hertz Team JOTA Cadillac V-Series.R will be known later, as will the Detroit (Michigan) brand's plans for theIMSA. Currently, Chip Ganassi Racing and Action Express Racing each operate an American prototype. For the first of the two teams, it has already been confirmed that this will no longer be the case next year. The Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti team could replace it while Acura has already announced the return of Meyer Shank Racing for 2025.
