Charouz happy to join OAK Racing

Jan Charouz, after the LMP1 premier category with Aston Martin, will drive this season at the wheel of an LMP2, the No. 35 OAK Racing Pescarolo-Judd. The Czech driver is improving his endurance experience, having chosen single-seaters this season by entering Formula Renault 3.5 Series and in Auto GP. But participation in 24 Hours of Le Mans is always exceptional and Jan Charouz is honored to be able to go there with the French team.

« I am very happy to join the OAK Racing team for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, says the Czech. It's a serious team and we have a good chance of winning the LMP2 category. Although I raced in LMP1 for the last two years, the regulations only allowed us to hope for victory in the event of problems with our diesel-powered rivals, even though we had the fastest gasoline car. Today I am delighted to be in a car and a team able to fight for victory. The 24 Hours of Le Mans is a fantastic challenge and I can't wait to start working with OAK Racing to prepare for the race in the most efficient way. »

Renault F1 Team reserve driver, Jan Charouz is also congratulated by Eric Boullier, team principal of the Renault FXNUMX Team team. Formula 1 of the Losange firm, satisfied to see one of the Renault drivers taking part in the legendary Le Mans race. “ It is very good news for Jan and for the Renault F1 driver program that Jan is racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with OAK Racing. He thus has a great chance of victory in the LMP2 category and the opportunity to prove his talent during one of the most prestigious events in the world. It will be a very enriching experience which adds to his program in World Series by Renault and Auto GP. »

« Despite his young age, Jan has extensive experience in Endurance, explains François Sicard, OAK Racing team manager. He is both a fast and reliable driver, which he proved by winning the LMP1 title in the Le Mans Series in 2009 with Aston Martin. He has now joined a team capable of fighting for victory in LMP2! Jan will help the crew of the No. 35 to achieve their goal! He will support our two talented drivers, Guillaume Moreau, himself a Le Mans Series champion in the GT1 category in 2008, and Matthieu Lahaye, who is also a regular on the podium. All three of them are fast and safe and have experience at Le Mans: Jan has participated three times, with a fourth place in LMP1 in 2009. Guillaume has also raced at Le Mans three times. As for Matthieu, he has started the Le Mans event twice with a podium in LMP2 in 2008. I really believe that this trio will work well! »
