Clash of dates between the WEC and Formula e

The 6 Hours of Nürburgring (Germany) risks posing a serious problem for certain teams Formula e. The New York ePrix (USA) being contested on the same weekend as the endurance race, a large part of the field risks missing one of the two meetings.

This is particularly the case for DS Virgin Racing. Sam Bird currently defends the interests of AF Corse in WEC and José Maria Lopez is strongly anticipated at Toyota. The Japanese manufacturer already hires Stéphane Sarrazin who also rides for Venturi Fe. Loïc duval has a contract with Audi and Faraday Future Dragon Racing.

At Renault e.dams, both drivers compete in the World ChampionshipEndurance with Nicholas Cheers at Rebellion Racing and Sébastien Buemi at Toyota. Lucas di Grassi, for his part, defends the colors of Audi in both disciplines (with the Abt team in Formula e).

If the crews are not confirmed for the next WEC season, there is no doubt that this clash of dates could be problematic for the various stakeholders.

This conflict of dates is not unique since the European Grand Prix in Baku (Azerbaijan) will again be contested next year on the same weekend as the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
