Conway extends lease with Toyota until 2019

Over the years, Mike conway becomes a pillar of the stable Toyota Gazoo Racing in the World ChampionshipEndurance (WEC). The Briton, present since 2014 within the Japanese team, first as a reserve and test pilot, achieved starting status the following season. For the WEC Super Season, running from spring 2018 to 24 Hours of Le Mans (Sarthe) in June 2019, the 34-year-old driver was confirmed in the No. 7 team.

“I am really happy to extend the adventure with Toyota; we have had several fantastic seasons together and I am looking forward to this long 2018-19 season, explains Mike Conway. Despite the withdrawal of Porsche official at the end of 2017, it is very satisfying to see the attractiveness that LM P1 continues to have among private teams (notably Rébellion). This should give us some good races over the next two years”, estimates the Englishman.

Mike Conway's best performance in the WEC was achieved in 2016. Within the Toyota factory structure, he finished 3rd in the Drivers' standings with six podiums and victory at the 6 Hours of Fuji (Japan). The former pilot ofIndyCar will continue in 2018 the association with Kamui Kobayashi et Jose Maria Lopez, started in 2017 with less success (5th overall, three podiums).
