It was an open secret in the World Championship paddock.Endurance of the FIA, it is now official since this Friday morning: manufacturers entered in the FIA World Endurance Championship in the Hypercar category will be required to enter at least two cars next season.

This implies that manufacturers with a prototype in WEC this year will have to double their effort in 2025 if they want to stay in the championship. Lamborghini, Cadillac and Isotta Fraschini are in this case. Aston Martin, for its part, is aiming to enter next season with a racing version of its Valkyrie. The brand from Gaydon (Great Britain) will therefore enter a second LMH to validate its entry ticket into the championship.

According to our information, manufacturers should be limited to four cars in WEC next year, customers included. Porsche will therefore have to reduce its size next season, the German manufacturer fielding five cars in the FIA World Endurance Championship this year.

Towards an expanded grid?

At the same time, the ACO has confirmed its intention to expand its field next year. The championship is working on expanding the WEC grid from 37 to 40 cars, Hypercar and LMGT3 combined, for 2025. This involves work on certain circuits, notably at Imola: the Italian circuit has committed to increasing its number of boxes with four additional garages.
