The French driver, who is making his debut in WEC, immediately impressed by posting the second fastest time behind the McLaren Garage 59's number 10 car, which secured pole position, was driven by Hadrien David, who clearly didn't expect to be so fast right from the start of the championship, especially since the Lexus RC F didn't seem particularly cooperative during the Prologue or the free practice sessions of this first event.

"I'm incredibly happy, I wasn't expecting it at all.", he explained to us. “The car has been very difficult to drive since the beginning of the week; we had a lot of trouble setting it up, and to finish with a great lap is really fantastic. Akkodis ASP is a great team; I know them from GT4 Europe, I raced with them there last year, we got quite a few pole positions, we won some races, but it's true that the World Championship is another level. I'm happy to have had a good first qualifying session.”

The Royan native (Charente-Maritime) highlighted the surprise of his second place, accompanied by another fine performance from the sister car, No. 87, which will start from the third row of the starting grid.

“It was an extremely difficult qualifying session because it was very hot and on paper we struggle much more in those conditions. The team anticipated these track changes very well; the car was never better than in qualifying. It was a surprise for everyone, but a pleasant one!”
