The Ferrari clan says a little more about its Hypercar project. On the sidelines of the 6 Hours of Monza, Antonello Coletta answered some questions regarding the new car of Maranello, who will participate in the 2023 season of WEC. The manager of the Competizione GT activities of the Italian brand provided small details at a press conference.

“First of all, I think this year will be very exciting. We are beginning a new era ofEndurance. Regarding our project, we have just started testing in Fiorano. For the moment, the feedback from the pilots is positive”, explained the Italian director. The first images of the Ferrari LMH were revealed on Wednesday, with a fully camouflaged car. If it is difficult to identify the shapes of Maranello's future weapon, Coletta guarantees that it will carry the DNA of the Prancing Horse. “I would like to assure you, it will indeed be a Ferrari. The front of the car will be very iconic, but for the moment I don't have more material to explain our project to you. »

“The idea is to continue with our current GT drivers at Ferrari” announces Coletta

Asked about the choice of drivers to form the next crews in the future Hypercar, Antonello Coletta did not give confirmation. The Italian director nevertheless indicates that Ferrari knows where to look for its future headliners. “For the drivers, our choice should be our GT drivers who are involved in the project, like Pier Guidi and Nielsen. Today we also have Andrea Bertolini in the car. »

Ferrari officials do not want to rush things. The Maranello manufacturer is still in the first part of development of its next Endurance bike. “ At the moment we are in this testing phase until February, just before the start of the next season. We are taking the time to consider changes and will make our choice of drivers at that time. The idea is to continue with our current drivers in GT. »

Best memory in GTE-Pro? “Victory at Le Mans in 2019”

If Ferrari will soon enter Hypercar, the Italian firm will also soon close the GTE-Pro chapter. Antonello Coletta recalled the best memories he has of the category since 2012. “The competition in LMGTE has always been intense and exciting. We have a lot of memories and almost all of them are positive. Ferrari has been present in the WEC since day one. I remember many great races, victories, but above all I would like to remember the victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2019, where there were a lot of competitors. »
