The paddock of WEC present this weekend in Fuji (Japan) is agitated around a rumor suggesting a withdrawal of Audi Sport at the end of the 2017 season.
These speculations arose following an article published on Thursday October 13 by our colleagues atCar engine and sport explaining that the brand with the Rings was considering leaving the world stage ofEndurance due to cost controls in motorsport and the “Dieselgate” scandal that hit the Volkswagen Group.
Asked by AUTOhebdo Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich responded to these rumors that Audi management had not made any decisions in this direction.
“I hope these rumors are false. We have seen so much speculation in the press in recent years. The good thing is that in most cases negative speculation does not occur. I'm an old optimist and I'm looking to the future.", replied the Audi sports director.
“We are in our usual program at the organizational level for the next season which always takes place in the fall. The management meeting, where sports programs are usually decided, has not yet taken place. No decision has been made”, said Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich.
