Porsche encountered a delay in the supply of its prototypes to its customer teams. The latter should not be able to enter 963 at the 24 Hours of Daytona (January 28-29), for the opening round of the 2023 season in IMSA.

“Indeed, we are behind schedule for a variety of reasons, primarily due to supply chains and the capabilities of some of our partner companies to supply parts, Thomas Laudenbach, head of Porsche Motorsport, confirmed to us on the sidelines of the 8 Hours of Bahrain. The global situation impacts this. This is something we were hoping to avoid, but I don't want to see it as a negative thing. We are the only brand to have made the decision to supply customer teams in our first year with our new prototype. We made this decision because we believe it is the right path to take. This is a difficult time for the teams and we are in close contact with them. »

Same problem for the 1000 Miles of Sebring?

The situation thus seems compromised for the double round of the clock in Florida where JDC-Miller MotorSports hoped to line up in the new GTP category with a prototype from the German manufacturer. Although not official, the second client team in the North American championshipEndurance in 2023 should be Proton Competition, which hopes to set up a double IMSA program-WEC. Will 963s be delivered by the first WEC race, two months after Daytona, at Sebring (March 17)?

"I hope so, but I can't confirm it. replied Thomas Laudenbach. However, I can say one thing: we are working extremely hard to deliver these cars as soon as possible. » According to our indiscretions, Proton Competition and Jota, which was the first client team announced for the World Endurance Championship, could well miss this first round of the season. Will they be a month later at the start of the 6 Hours of Portimão (April 16)?
