Dumas: “My dream has always been to win with Porsche”

On June 19, Romain Dumas celebrated his second victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but his first with Porsche. The 38-year-old Alésien understood that he was going to climb to the top of the podium with his teammates Neel Jani and Marc Lieb when he saw the Toyota TS050 Hybrid stopped just moments from the checkered flag.

“What is certain is that my dream has always been to win with Porsche, and now it is a reality. Afterwards, I want to say, I am really sorry for Toyota, even if everything makes it, unfortunately, part of the race., declared Romain Dumas to AUTOhebdo.

“I don't know if it's fatigue or what, but this thing with Toyota makes everyone a little embarrassed, including the Audi drivers (Lucas di Grassi, Oliver Jarvis and Loïc duval) who finally get on the podium, added the driver of the No. 919 Porsche 2 Hybrid. However, my two victories at Le Mans have one thing in common: we didn't make any scratches on the bodywork. I also wanted to win Le Mans again for one reason: the first time, in 2010, I didn’t celebrate my victory at all…”
