With the No. 919 1 Hybrid driven by Mark Webber, Porsche places itself before qualifying for the 6 Hours of the Nürburgring.

EL3 – Porsche dominates the final free practice sessions

Best time of the two sessions contested yesterday in the Eifel, Porsche once again set the pace this Saturday morning on the Nürburgring track. The 919 Hybrid n°1 from Hartley-Bernhard-Webber was the fastest in the final driving session before qualifying.

After a delay of more than 45' due to poor visibility conditions this morning, the session began on a track still requiring wet tires, before drying out as the time progressed. Enough to allow Mark Webber to set the reference lap in the last half hour in 1’41″002.

The Australian is 291 thousandths ahead of Toyota Nakajima TS050 Hybrid n°5-Buemi-Davidson, with a best lap to his credit in 1’41″293. The two Audi R18s Duval-di Grassi-Jarvis (who experienced a spin without consequences) and Fässler – Lotterer follow in the ranking at 540 and 997 thousandths. The 919 Hybrid n°2, damaged yesterday in free practice 2, and the second Toyota TS050 Hybrid n°6 complete the hybrid LM P1 ranking ahead of the two Rebellion R-One n°13 and n°12 and the CLM P1/01 from Team ByKolles.

In LM P2, René Rast set the best time in 1’50”260 at the wheel of the No. 05 G-Drive Oreca 26-Nissan which he shares with Roman Rusinov and Alex Brundle and is ahead of the n°44 of Team Manor de Graves – Pizzonia – Hawson and the first Alpine A460 from Cheng – Tung – Panciatici.

The second Alpine de Stone – Richelmi – Menezes takes fourth place ahead of the No. 05 Oreca 45 of Team Manor of Rao – Bradley – Merhi. The SMP Racing BR 01 of Petrov – Shaitar – Ladygin follows in sixth position in the category ahead of the first RGR Sport Ligier JS P2 of Gonzalez – Albuquerque – Senna.

Ferrari and AF Corse dominated the session in GTE Pro with a double of the 488 n°51 of Bruni – Calado and n°71 of Bird – Rigon. The No. 67 Ford GT of Franchitti – Priaulx – Tincknell took third place ahead of theAston Martin Vantage n°97 of Turner – Stanaway and the Porsche 911 RSR of Dempsey – Proton Racing.

Porsche, on the other hand, showed itself to be the most lively in GTE Am, the 911 of Abu Dhabi – Proton Racing of Heinemeier-Hansson – Al Qubaisi – Long rising to the forefront in front of the No. 458 Ferrari 83 Italia AF Corse of Perrodo – Collard. The Corvette C7.R from the Larbre Compétition de Ragues – Yamagishi – Ruberti ranks fourth behind the Porsche 911 KCMG.

Qualifying will begin at 14:15 p.m. with the GTE, LM P1 and LM P2 starting their session at 14:45 p.m.
