While the 2023 season of WEC is approaching its end with only two rounds to go (the 6 Hours of Fuji and the 8 Hours of Bahrain), the WRT Team is preparing for the 2024 financial year. An important meeting for the Belgian team since it will move into the Hypercar category with BMW.

Team WRT began its first run with the German Hypercar at the end of May, at Dingolfing, the BMW Group's testing ground in Bavaria, Germany. Next, a three-day test session was held at Motorland Aragón, in Alcañiz, Spain. Official BMW M drivers Sheldon van der Linde, Dries Vanthoor, Maxime Martin and Jesse Krohn took turns at the wheel, later joined by Dan Harper and Max Hesse from the BMW M Junior team for a first functional test.

BMW already victorious in IMSA

The work has continued since then and it is at Spa-Francorchamps, not far from Vincent Vosse, the boss of the WRT team, that the Belgian team continues its preparation work for next season, which will begin on March 2 next in Doha, with the 1812km of Qatar. At the same time, the German manufacturer will continue its commitment to the United States, IMSA, with Team RLL. After a complicated debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona in January, the propeller-driven firm scored its first victory with its prototype at the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen on June 25 thanks to Connor de Phillippi and Nick Yelloly.

For these tests in Belgium, the German prototype does not have the official livery used across the Atlantic, but a simple black dress with WEC stickers.
