Sebring tests – Toyota improves the record

Un jour après avoir signé le record du tour sur le circuit de Sebring (Floride), le Toyota Gazoo Racing a abaissé la marque lors des derniers essais du Championnat du monde d’endurance (WEC) Sunday March 10.

The pair composed of Mike conway et Kamui Kobayashi completed a lap in 1'41''152, almost six tenths better than the previous record also achieved by the Toyota TS050-Hybrid bearing the number 7. The second Japanese prototype, driven by Kazuki Nakajima et Fernando Alonso is in second place at only 52 thousandths.

As for the LM P1 Non-Hybrid, SMP Racing took over Rebellion Racing. The two BR Engineering BR1s were quite well ahead of the two Rebellion R13s (more than half a second apart).

Loïc duval showcased the power of the Gibson engine of his Oreca 07 from the TDS Racing team in the LM P2 category. The Frenchman clocked 1'47''642 and is ahead of another proto tricolor, that ofAlpine. Nyck de Vries takes his Dutch compatriots from Racing Team Nederland to third place.

La Porsche 911 RSR No. 91 was the fastest GTE Pro during the Sunday tests. Richard Lietz improved the best lap of the day before by one second (achieved by the Ford of Jonathan Bomarito) and is clearly ahead of the Ferrari 488 GTE EVO by Pier Guidi-Calado-Serra. Note that the first Aston Martin Vantage (that of Lynn-Martin) is more than a second behind.

Finally, the GTE Am class is also led by a Porsche, that of the No. 88 Dempsey Proton Racing driven by Matteo Cairoli. The Team Project 1 clan suffered a fire, causing the loss of the Porsche 911 RSR. Fortunately, Jörg Bergmeister, who was at the wheel at the time, escaped unscathed.

The first free practice sessions for the 1 Miles of Sebring will be held on Wednesday March 000.
