Ferrari interested in Le Mans

Luca di Montezemolo, president of Ferrari, traveled to Le Mans to start the 24 Hours race. He will also do a lap of the track beforehand, with Jean Alesi at the wheel. At a press conference, Montezemolo recognized that endurance could be an interesting solution for Ferrari. There Team launched for the first time at Le Mans in 1949, its last victory as a manufacturer dating back to 1965.

Luca di Montezemolo also spoke about the turmoil currently shaking the Formula 1 : " We have won eight of the last ten manufacturers' titles in F1 and it's as if we have eaten too much. Maybe we need new challenges to get hungry again. Especially since the regulations in F1 are not clear. »

The Ferrari president added that he wanted, more than anything, to stay in Formula 1. The sine qua non condition is “ find responsible people within the FIA » to achieve stability of regulations. Luca di Montezemolo recognizes, however, that if Ferrari continues in F1, a program “ Le Mans » will be difficult to integrate. But the Sarthe race is of great interest to the Scuderia which, according to its president, “ will come back eventually » in Sarthe.
