Ford reportedly eyeing LMP1

As we indicated to you in issue 2157 of AUTOhebdo, Ford would have expressed its interest in the first categories of theEndurance, whether in IMSA or WEC.

The blue oval brand would be pushed by its operating team, Chip Ganassi Racing, which would like to compete with Team Penske in the general classification of American races. She would also be interested in the future LMP1 regulations planned for 2020 where a new GTP category is being studied.

“Pierre Fillon (the president of the ACO) asked us to be able to announce something in June. The idea of ​​the GTP concept is obviously retained,” Vincent Beaumesnil, the ACO sports director, confirmed to AUTOhebdo.
