Ford extends WEC and IMSA for 3 years

As we announced to you in issue 2068 of AUTOhebdo, Ford has chosen to extend its program by WEC and IMSA for the next three seasons.

“We wanted to make sure everyone was aware that we were entered in WEC and IMSA, comments Raj Nair, executive vice-president of Ford. Our main objective was to win Le Mans and we are proud to have achieved this in our first year. Our four-year commitment to both IMSA and WEC demonstrates how seriously we take the Ford GT program. »

“We are in motorsport to achieve victories and titles and we use this to develop our engineering expertise and technological advances on production vehicles such as Ecoboost engines, aero advances and lightweight materials”, he added.

The Detroit manufacturer has successfully returned to the field ofEndurance notably winning victory in GTE Pro at the 19 Hours of Le Mans on June 24 with the Ford GT of Joey Hand, Dirk Müller and Sébastien Bourdais. The Johnson-Pla-Mücke crew is currently at the top of the Drivers' ranking in the category. The American brand also won in IMSA in the GTLM category at Laguna Seca (California) with Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe. Ford enters two cars full-time in both Championships.
