Vector Sport announced this Thursday, February 23, two of its three drivers for the 2023 season of the WEC. For his second season in the World ChampionshipEndurance of the FIA, the British team is changing crew, but it will always have a Frenchman in its ranks. After Sébastien Bourdais in 2022, Gabriel Aubry will wear the colors of the Silverstone-based team. The 24-year-old driver thus returns to the LM P2 category in WEC after a year in LMGTE Am with Spirit of Race. The native of Saint-Germain-en-Laye had previously driven for Jackie Chan DC Racing (from 2018 to 2020) then for Richard Mille Racing Team (one race in 2021).

« I am very happy to start my sixth season in the WEC and my fifth in the LM P2 category, confides Gabriel Aubry. I started my career in Endurance with Gary (Holland, the main team of Vector Sport. Editor’s note) in 2017, and many of the people from that time are now at Vector. After two difficult seasons, I really want to rebuild myself with the support of the guys here. Everything seems perfect to be at the highest level this season and I can't wait to be at Sebring. »

The Habs will be accompanied by Matthias Kaiser. The 32-year-old Liechtensteiner will play for the first time at this level after two years in ELMS, at Graff Racing in LM P3 then Mühlner Motorsport in LM P2. “ I am very happy to take this step towards the WEC with Gabi and the whole Vector Sport team, declares the pilot. After a season in LM P2 in ELMS, I am looking forward to developing my experience in a new championship and continuing to work towards an exciting and successful season. There is a great level of competition in the LM P2 field and it is certainly an exciting year ahead! »

« We are delighted to welcome Gabi and Matthias to the team, comments Gary Holland. We had a good pre-season and we are looking forward to the Prologue and the Race. We are confident that their individual qualities, drive and determination will help us continue to make our mark in what we know will be an intensely competitive season. »

They will be accompanied by a third driver who will ultimately not be Ryan Cullen, although the latter appears in the first WEC entry list for this 2023 season. In parallel with its second season in the WEC, Vector Sport will contribute to the development of the LMH from the Italian manufacturer Isotta Fraschini Milano, whose presentation is expected on Tuesday February 28 in Milan (Italy).
