Ganassi: “Victory will be harder to achieve”

The Ford GTs seem further behind than last year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Balance of Performance and the developments of the opponents will complicate the task of Chip Ganassi Racing which remains the only team to enter four GTE Pros to try to maintain its category victory obtained last year with Hand-Müller-Bourdais.

“We thought we could win but we didn’t think we would win.”, Chip Ganassi said with amusement.

The Ford GTs have seen their performance deteriorated with the Balance of Performance, which will make the confrontation against the Ferrari, Porsche, Corvette and Aston Martin even more complicated.

“Victory will be harder to achieve. The teams have become even more competitive and the Balance of Performance is handicapping us well. There are so many teams who don't reveal their game that it's difficult to say that we're playing at our best, but I'm not the best person to talk about it. »

Olivier Pla, driver of the No. 68 Ford GT with Stefan Mücke and Billy Johnson, saw his mount finish in last place in the category at the end of the first qualifying session for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, more than 3 seconds behind the Aston Martin n°95 of Thiim-Sorensen-Stanaway on provisional pole in the category.

“We are not worried about the times because we have only prepared for the race, particularly in terms of parts like the brake calipers, without trying to set a time”, explained the 2012 Le Mans Series champion.
