Gérard Neveu: “There is no danger in the house”

It was on the sidelines of the Chinese round in Shanghai held last weekend that Pierre Fillon, president of the ACO, Sir Lindsay Owen-Jones, president of the Commission Endurance at the FIA, and Gérard Neveu, general director of the WEC, wanted to provide their answers after the news of the end of Audi Sport's LM P1 program.

According to Gérard Neveu, this announcement, although surprising, absolutely does not endanger the championship. “One brand leaves, another will arrive, and so it is in the history of 24 Hours of Le Mans and endurance for a century.

In 2012, when we learned of the even more sudden departure of Peugeot , no one panicked, because our job is not to comment on this type of decision, but to accept them and find solutions to ensure a good future for a championship... There is no danger in the matter. »

The championship manager, however, does not want to put forward any potential timing concerning the arrival of a new manufacturer in the premier category of LM P1. “There are, unfortunately, no announcements planned for the moment, but interest is present and when a manufacturer feels ready, a schedule will follow. »
