The ex-pilot of F1 will join the forces of the United Autosports crew no. 23 during the WEC rounds of Portimão (Portugal, April 16, 2023) and Monza (Italy, July 9, 2023), replacing Tom Blomqvist who will fulfill commitments IMSA U.S..

Van der Garde, 37, has numerous LM P2 trophies to his credit, including the European championship Le Mans Series in 2016, a class victory at the 6 Hours of Fuji in 2019, in addition to multiple podiums in the IMSA championship. In the No. 23 car, he will be accompanied by Josh Pierson and Oliver Jarvis.

“I’m really looking forward to racing with United Autosports, rejoiced Giedo van der Garde. I've known them for a long time – they've always been at the front and we've had some great battles in the WEC over the years. It’s also an honor to race with Josh Pierson, we will be teammates in the IMSA championship… and we are going to the WEC again at Monza and Portimão. Oliver Jarvis, I've known him for a long time, we did some karting when we were teenagers. It's the first time we've raced together but he's a fast guy who knows what he's doing. For me, it's a good opportunity to come back to the WEC. »
