Passed by the F1 with Caterham then Sauber, Giedo van der Garde had bounced back in 2016 in endurance via theELMS which he had won with G-Drive Racing, but also the WEC over several rounds of the season including 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The Dutchman will return to the world stage for the 2018-2019 WEC Super-Season by signing up with the Racing Team Netherlands, who will field a Dallara P217 from the 6 Hours of Spa (May 5).
« I like the ambitions of the team and I want to be part of it, admits the 32-year-old pilot. The world championship is very competitive and the 24 Hours of Le Mans is one of the biggest races in the world. It will be special to participate again.
The goal is to, collectively, continue to improve, so that we can ultimately fight for the podium. Because of my love for endurance racing, as well as the history and romance of Le Mans, I look forward to racing for Racing Team Nederland. »
Frits van Eerd's organization is due to present the livery of its Dallara P217 and the other pilots of its crew in the coming weeks.
