  • Antonio Giovinazzi confirmed what Ferrari demonstrated since the start of the weekend by signing the pole position for Lone Star Le Mans this Saturday at the wheel of the 499P n°51 with a time of 1:50.390. The Italian beat Robert Kubica (AF Corse n°83) by 0.277 seconds for a 100% Ferrari front row.
  • The great feeling of this session is to be put to the benefit of Charles Milesi, the Frenchman signing a very good fourth time to place theAlpine No. 35 in the second row, the best result for the French LMDh in this exercise.
  • Alex Lynn sandwiched the #2 Cadillac between the two Ferraris and theAlpine. Antonio Fuoco completed the top five at the wheel of the #5 Ferrari. The first Porsche is only sixth with Matt Campbell at the wheel of the n°5. On the side of Toyota, the n°7 will only start from ninth place, behind the two BMWs.
  • Big surprise with the elimination in the first phase of qualifying of Kévin Estre at the wheel of the Porsche n°6, the car which is leading the championship.
  • Another feeling: the non-passage in Hyperpole of Sébastien Buemi driving the No. 8 Toyota, only 12th.
  • If Charles Milesi succeeded in placing theAlpine No. 35 in Hyperpole, this is not the case of Mick Schumacher who set the 12th fastest time at the wheel of the No. 36. The German was bothered by a wasp in his cockpit and had to open his left door to get it out.
  • Peugeot came close to placing a car in Hyperpol through Mikkel Jensen, but the Dane failed to finish 11th by just 20 thousandths.
  • Jenson Button crashed in the No. 963 Hertz Team JOTA Porsche 38 and finished in 17th and penultimate place.
  • Daniil Kvyat closed the qualifying session with the Lamborghini SC63 n°18.
