Green4U and Panoz unveil the GT-EV

Green4U Technologies and Panoz presented the GT-EV in the Village des 24 Hours of Le Mans this Thursday, June 15. This new electric racing car promises to achieve the same performance as vehicles with an internal combustion engine or hybrid technology.

The GT-EV will therefore be able to develop between 400 and 450 kW and reach a maximum speed of 290km/h by taking advantage of mobile aero appendages. Its carbon fiber chassis will house batteries that can be changed during stops. An electric motor will power the front axle while a second will provide all-wheel drive by powering the rear wheels. The braking energy will be recovered and will make it possible to reach relays of between 144 and 177km.

“We are presenting this project at Le Mans because it is a legendary race where the most visionary and ambitious competitors always push the limits further in the discipline, comments Don Panoz, president and co-founder of Green4U Technologies. We pushed the boundaries by entering the Sparky (the Panoz Q9 GTR-1 Hybrid in 1998) and the DeltaWing at Le Mans and we will do the same with the fully electric GT-EV. »

Green4U Technologies and Panoz intend to enter the GT-EV on the 56th stand during the 86th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2018.

“The goal is to race it, maybe even enter it at Garage 56, and apply what we learn about the design of the Green4U EV”, confirms Don Panoz.

“Our team set out to achieve the speed and stint duration of today's racing cars, adds Brian Willis, Green4U Panoz Racing GT-EV vice president of engineering and design. The key is being able to do the same stints as the gasoline and hybrid race cars and being able to change the batteries in the same time it takes them to get their tanks full. »
