It was after the nine-hour mark that racing encountered many problems. First it is the No. 72 Corvette, second in the GT1 category, which enters the pits and then is driven into its box. Thomas Mutsch, driver of the No. 60 Ford GT Matech, then plans to establish his domination in the category, being leader in GT1. But a collision involved the Ford and the No. 24 OAK Racing Pescarolo-Judd, driven by Jean-François Yvon. The pink Pesca is very damaged on the left side, including a torn off front wheel. The LMP2 and the Ford GT1 return to their box for several tens of minutes.

La Ferrari n°82 of Risi Competizione is not free from problems either and also returns to her box. A disappointment but also a chance to be able to have it repaired. A chance that Jean-Christophe Boullion did not have, who made a mistake in the junction chicane and sent his Lola-Rebellion n°13 into the tire piles. Abandonment is inevitable.

At the head of the race, the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP n°2 continues its domination diligently. The colorful drivers Nicolas Minassian, Franck Montagny and Stéphane Sarrazin are keen to secure their first place, hoping that the mechanics will not betray them. After ten hours of racing, Stéphane Sarrazin is at the wheel and he is more than 90 seconds ahead of the No. 908 Peugeot 4 HDi FAP. Nicolas lapierre.

Two minutes from the Oreca, the No. 15 and No. 9 Audi R8 TDIs are in the same lap as the second 908 but far from winning. With such a delay, it becomes difficult to hope to win. Their solution: focus on regularity, reliability and wait for errors or mechanical problems.

If a double is possible for Peugeot in LMP1, it is also possible for Honda in LMP2, the two HP ARX-01cs occupying the head of the category standings. A double also possible for Corvette, in GT2, thanks to the first two places of Corvette n°64 and 63. As for GT1, the race by elimination placed the Saleen S7R of Larbre Compétition, which could make the jackpot thanks to the problems encountered by other cars.
