The Porsche 919 Hybrids took the advantage over the #7 Toyota. Brendon Hartley leads the way in the #919 2 Hybrid.

H+2: Porsche takes control at the Nürburgring

Porsche a pris les commandes de la course dans la 2e heure au Nürburgring (Allemagne). Brendon Hartley occupe la tête sur la Porsche n°2 devant la n°1 de Neel Jani, tandis que José-Maria Lopez a rétrogradé au 3e rang sur la Toyota n°7 après avoir tenté de résister pendant plusieurs tours. La Toyota n°8 de Sébastien Buemi remains 5 laps behind the leaders following his fuel pump problem after moving up to 11th place.

Ho-Pin Tung took over from Oliver Jarvis in the #38 Jackie Chan DC Racing car which regained the lead of LMP2 ahead of the Vaillante Rebellion now led by Julien Canal and David Heinemeier-Hansson. Tristan Gommendy follows in the No. 37 of the Chinese team, preceding theAlpine n°36 where Gustavo Menezes replaced Nicolas lapierre. The only Ligier in the field, the No. 34 of Philip Hanson's Tockwith Motorsports, was returned to the garage as was theAlpine n°35 which was driven by André negrao.

Porsche remains in control of the GTE Pro, but it is now the 911 RSR n°92 of Kévin Estre which leads the category with a dozen seconds ahead of the Ferrari n°51 by Alessandro Pier Guidi. The #981 Porsche now driven by Richard Lietz slipped to 3rd position ahead of the Aston Martin Vantage of Nicki Thiim and Darren Turner who are ahead of the Ford GTs of Harry Tincknell and Stefan Mücke. The No. 98 Vantage, now entrusted to Paul Dalla-Lana, remains at the head of GTE Am.
