H21: Audi stripped of its throne?

While it could still catch up with its predecessors, the No. 15 Audi R1 experienced problems believed to be of electrical origin. Still, in three laps, the No. 1, driven by Allan Mc Nish, stopped three times! At the second stop, the German team changed the Scot's steering wheel, before seeing him return to the pitlane once again. This time, the stop lasted longer and rejected the R15, on its return to the track, six laps behind the leading 908.

For its part, the R15 n°3 is not happier, victim of a few off-track incidents in the gravel. If the Audi of Prémat, Dumas and Bernhard logically moved up, little by little, in the general standings, the gap of 48 laps with the lead is significant.

La Peugeot 908 n°7, which also experienced some setbacks, was able to move up to sixth position three hours from the end of the race. And the No. 11 Oreca-AIM is still an achievable goal for the third Peugeot, in order to slip into the Top 5.

A good surprise is the presence of the Lola Aston Martin of the Speedy Racing Team Sebah in the Top 10. And it is in seventh position that the crew in which Nicolas appears Cheers. The three men are thus ahead of the Audi R10 TDi, the Pescarolo-Judd and many other LMP1 competitors.
