H+23: Audi towards a hat-trick at Le Mans

If the Audi R15 TDIs performed a waiting race, seeing the 908 HDi FAP abandon one by one, they really do not deserve it. Their pace was certainly less sustained than that of the 908 but what reliability! The Ingolstadt firm did not encounter any major problems to overcome. The nine drivers competed in a very clean race and, with less than an hour to go, are on track to earn their hat-trick.

It is the No. 15 Audi R9 TDI of Romain Dumas, Timo Bernhard and Mike Rockenfeller which occupies the lead. 24 Hours of Le Mans. One lap behind, the No. 8 of Benoit Tréluyer, Andre Lotterer and Marcel Fässler. A little further on, the #7 “dream team”: Allan McNish, Tom Kristensen and Dindo Capello.

After the abandonments of Peugeot , the Lola Aston Martin Racing n°009 also lost its engine. The No. 6 Oreca AIM, gasoline prototype, if it does not experience any problems in the last hour of the race, will finish fourth. And yet, the crew made up of Andy Meyrick, Didier André and Soheil Ayari was not spared from the problems. A nice compensation.
