Habsburg sees big for Alpine in 2025 with an “intrinsically good” car

After a convincing first season with the A424 in Hypercar and a 4th place in the championship, Alpine is aiming even higher in 2025. This is in any case the wish of Ferdinand Habsburg, who assures that the arrowed A has the means to play at the top of the table.

In 2024, Alpine was "the best of the rest" in WEC. The A arrowed team took a nice 4th place in the Constructors' championship – behind the untouchables Toyota, Porsche et Ferrari – for its first season in the premier class with the A424, with the added bonus of a podium finish for the No. 36 at the 6 Hours of Fuji. A more than encouraging start for the French team, which outclassed more experienced teams among the Manufacturers, and a good working basis for the coming season. Because if 2024 was a year of learning in Hypercar, 2025 must be the year of confirmation.

Habsburg sees Alpine to become "an even greater force" in 2025.

To do this, Alpine will be able to count on a healthy and efficient A424 on all terrains with a proven Oreca chassis, but also on an experienced crew. The French clan will welcome a key recruit in its development, Frédéric Makowiecki, who will bring all his experience and expertise from his Porsche years. For the rest of the drivers, almost no changes are to be noted, except for the appointment of Jules Gounon in place of Matthieu Vaxiviere. The arrowed A will therefore be able to rely on Charles Milesi, Mick Schumacher, Paul-Loup Chatin and Ferdinand Habsburg, who does not lack ambition and sees Alpine play leading roles in 2025.

“It’s exciting to be back with an iconic brand like Alpine as she continues her comeback in the premier category ofEndurance – a position in motorsport where it truly belongs. Our first season with Alpine was about building relationships and trust between the drivers, mechanics and engineers. Building that connection was critical, and I believe if we continue to strengthen those bonds, we will become an even greater force to be reckoned with [in 2025], says the Austrian pilot, who missed the Imola round last April due to a back injury. The car itself is inherently good, and now it’s about making sure the team continues to come together and work together as a family, just as we did in 2024. If we continue in this vein, I’m confident we can achieve even more in the future.”

“Accomplish more”, it will obviously be to go for a first victory in WEC with an A424 which showed great promise in qualifying and in tire management in the race. Alpine will obviously have the 24H of Le Mans in the line of sight and hopes to correct the blunder encountered in 2024, where the two cars had retired due to engine failure before a third of the race. To avoid this, the A fléché has made corrections to the Mecachrome engine in order to make it more reliable. If reliability is there and performance is still there, then Alpine could well come and join the frontrunners to play for podiums... and why not better?
