Hope was already tiny, it is now extinguished. Isotta Fraschini Milano will not be present during the 6 Hours of Monza, despite the wishes of the Italian manufacturer. If the Milanese firm will continue its tests with its Hypercar, the Tipo6, on the Lombard track on May 16 and 17, it has also decided to postpone the approval of its vehicle until the fall. “In agreement with the FIA and the ACO, this decision will allow the car to be homologated after maximum development and with many more test kilometers”, specifies Isotta Fraschini on her social networks.

According to the Italian manufacturer, development of the Tipo6 will continue throughout the summer with approval hoped for in October 2023. The tests will be conducted by Marco Bonanomi, test driver for Michelotto Engineering. If the Milanese Hypercar will not be on the track on July 9, two models of the Tipo6 Competizione will still be present in the paddocks as a presentation. Isotta also specifies that additional details will be revealed at Monza on the sidelines of the 5th round of the WEC.

While testing began in mid-April in Vallelunga (Italy), Isotta faces a very tight schedule to be present in the WEC this season. In Portimão, Gary Holland, Team Principal of Vector Sport (team in charge of operating the Italian prototype) did not judge it as “ an absolute necessity » to see the prototype enter competition during the 2023 season, the priority being registration for the entire 2024 financial year. According to our indiscretions, Isotta Fraschini Milano would like to enter not one, but two LMHs for the next season.
