Jani: “Nobody had a really good trick”

Already last year, Neel Jani was the most energetic during the qualifying session of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2015 at the wheel of the Porsche 919 Hybrid by establishing pole position in 3'16″887. The native of Roschchach dominated the first qualifying session of the 84th edition last night by completing a best lap in 3'19"733, a performance below the expectations of the driver of the No. 919 2.

“It was really difficult to get a clear lap tonight, Jani explains. There was a lot of traffic and several cars were moving rather slowly. I don’t think anyone had a really good lap today.. For the moment, this is enough to take provisional pole position, but there is more to come. »

The German clan was delighted to place its two cars on the provisional front row, while the weather conditions for Thursday, where the final qualifying sessions will take place, remain very uncertain.

“Given the unstable weather, the first two places in the first session could be important, comments Fritz Enzinger, LM P1 vice-president of Porsche. Both of our 919 Hybrids completed their fastest laps in traffic, meaning both cars have the potential to go faster. We are very excited to see the second and third sessions today. »

The qualifications will be followed live with our live text on our website.
