Jean-Éric Vergne: “I will invest a lot of energy in this program”

Will you lead Formula E et WEC in parallel ?

This is a program that I will compete in parallel to Formula E (with DS Techeetah. Editor's note). These two projects have the same level of importance to me. When I do things, I do them in the best possible way, and that means winning. So I'm going to invest a lot of energy into this program. The advantage is that when I come to do the simulator for DS in Formula E (at Satory. Editor's note), the simulator Peugeot will be next door.

Is there a big difference between prototypes and car ?

The difference is enormous. In Formula E, in a way, your teammate is your first enemy. You must beat him. You tune the car perfectly for yourself, for your needs. In Endurance, there were many times when the car was not perfect for me, because everything was done so that the least comfortable driver would be as fast as possible. This team spirit is something I had never experienced before arriving in Endurance and which I love.

You did several races last year with Mikkel Jensen at G-Drive Racing. What can you tell us about him?

I was very surprised by its top speed. Coming from LM P3, he was immediately very fast. The second thing that impressed me was that he wasn't showing off. He always came to me for advice and always put it into practice. I also had a good laugh with him. And it's important that outside the circuits we can be friends. Because in the end, in difficult times, this friendship within the team itself can be very important. This is what pushes the team to work late, to work hard!
