KCMG must defend its title at Le Mans

If KCMG abandoned its LMP2 program in WEC cette année pour se concentrer sur le GTE Am où elle engage une Porsche 911 RSR, l’écurie asiatique reprendra son Oreca 05 pour tenter de décrocher une seconde victoire consécutive dans la catégorie aux 24 Hours of Le Mans played on June 18 and 19.

The crew will be essentially identical, with Matthew Howson and Richard Bradley returning to service, while Tsugio Matsuda will replace Nicolas lapierre. The trio will compete together at the 24 Hours of Le Mans Test Day on June 5.

“I am very happy to reunite with my former teammates from 2014, Matt and Richard”, declares the Japanese, twice champion in Formula Nippon and champion of the Super GT500, who had ventured into the sad project of the Nissan GT-R Nismo LMP1 in 2015 after having evolved with KCMG in Asian LMS and in WEC. “It will be my first time riding the Oreca 05, but I will do my best to adapt as quickly as possible and achieve positive results during the official tests. »

“It’s a relief to return to Le Mans where we are the reigning winners”, adds Matthew Howson. “KCMG's LMP2 program is limited this year, but that means all efforts are focused on this race. The package is essentially the same as last year. With teammates such as Tsugio and Richard, we will be at the forefront of the LMP2 category which is even more competitive than in 2015.”
