In LMGTE Pro, the 6 Hours of Spa was lively from start to finish, notably thanks to the duel between Porsche et Ferrari. A three-car battle since the No. 91 Porsche (Gianmaria Bruni, Richard Lietz) was out of the running from the first moments of the race after contact with its sister car. “ I missed my first braking, says Kevin Estre, aboard the No. 92 Porsche as he sets off. I braked too late and too hard with cold tires. I pulled straight after blocking at the front. Gianmaria had to film and we touched for the first time. »

At the exit of the source hairpin, Gianmaria Bruni found himself sandwiched by Kevin Estre's car, on the left along the gravel, and the Ferrari No. 51 (Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado). Contact with his teammate is inevitable for the Frenchman. “ That’s when we touched up. He broke his rim and had a puncture, I simply damaged my rim. I came out in front and was able to do the first stint in front. I am disappointed for them and would like to apologize to the team once again. It's my fault and I ruined their race. »

Despite this problem at the start of the race, Kevin Estre coped well with the tricky conditions linked to the weather and the various interruptions. “ Red flags and Full Course Yellows are very difficult to deal with. It was quite a lottery in terms of strategies, no one had the same one. »

Returning to the leader's lap at mid-race without having made any mistakes in the rain, the duo in the No. 92 Porsche believed in victory in the final hour. With a fantastic pace in the dry, Michael Christensen manages to catch up with the leading Ferrari duo and overtake the No. 52 (Miguel Molina, Antonio Fuoco). " We thought that N°51 (then category leader) couldn't finish without going back to the stands, deciphers Kevin Estre. With successive Full Course Yellows, they were able to save fuel to finish. We finished 2nd, it was a good race even if we let the victory points slip away with a view to the championship. »

A victory that the Frenchman will be keen not to let slip away during the next meeting, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, on June 11 and 12.
